An interview with Quality of Advice Reviewer Michelle Levy has been published as a special edition of the Insurance News podcast. 

As previously reported, the Hayne-recommended review is looking at ways to make financial advice more accessible and affordable, and includes consideration of whether broker commissions should be banned. 

While against them in principle, Ms Levy does not believe commissions do “real harm”, and in a proposals paper says they should be allowed to continue in general insurance. 

In the podcast she also discusses her views on life insurance commissions, and broader changes she is recommending to personal and general advice.

She will provide a final report to government by the end of this week.
