INsight podcast: code breaches, industry moves and reinsurance pools

The panel on this week’s Insurance News podcast focuses on the Code Governance Committee’s disappointment at continued breaches of the General Insurance Code of Practice.

As reported previously, the committee’s annual report details 32,870 self-reported breaches, which is up 5% on the previous year, and 112 significant breaches. It also identified 172 breaches through its own investigations – and this figure is up 42%.

Committee Chairman Veronique Ingram says a stubborn persistence in breach cases is “especially disappointing” and “discouraging” after an “abundance of recommendations” detailing how to comply.

INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, our team of journalists, and occasional guests.

This week’s episode also discusses major moves at insurers IAG and Chubb, and whether we might finally be about to gain some clarity on the issue of a reinsurance pool for northern Australia.

You can find a new episode of INsight published here every Wednesday.
