INsight podcast: BI test case done, but not quite dusted
The Full Court appeal ruling on the second industry test case related to covid business interruption claims is the focus for the panel on the latest Insurance News podcast.
As insuranceNEWS.com.au reported on Monday night, the court largely backed the findings of Federal Court Justice Jayne Jagot, who heard the case last October.
There is the prospect of a further appeal to the High Court, but the insurance industry can - for now - celebrate a ruling that is broadly in its favour. SME owners won't be so chuffed, although some lawyers believe there might still be valid claims out there.
This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex and Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh.
Other issues discussed in the podcast include the modelling (or lack of it) on cyclone reinsurance pool premium calculations, Zurich's on/off sale process, and QBE's first set of results under new CEO Andrew Horton.
