INsight podcast: APRA stats point to brighter future

The latest and improved industry statistics from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) are the main topic on this week's edition of the Insurance News podcast.

As insuranceNEWS.com.au has reported, general insurers made a net profit after-tax of $1 billion for the year to June 30, with better investment income and underwriting results contributing.

This week’s edition of INsight, hosted by Insurance News Managing Director Andrew Silcox, features the observations of Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan, Managing Editor John Deex, Deputy Editor Wendy Pugh and Senior Journalist Bernice Han.

The panel discusses whether improved profitability points to better news ahead for those impacted by the current hard market and associated insurance availabillity issues.

Also featured on the podcast are ASIC's approach under new Chairman Joseph Longo, NIBA's long-awaited new broker code, and industry hopes that Tasmania is about to finally remove an inefficient and unfair tax on insurance.

You can find a new episode of INsight published here each week.
