Industry moves: Borden joins IA, McKinnis goes to CBN
Former QBE executive Andrew Borden has joined Insurance Advisernet (IA) in the latest in a series of summer industry moves.
Mr Borden, who is currently Executive Director at 360 Underwriting Solutions, takes over from John Burke as GM Southern Region at IA, starting on March 4 and based in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell. Mr Burke remains a director on the IA board.
Mr Borden spent five years at QBE as regional manager for Victoria and Tasmania and more recently as GM Workers’ Compensation. Prior to that he was at Vero.
Meanwhile, former Insight CEO David McKinnis has joined Community Broker Network (CBN).
Mr McKinnis worked with Steadfast after it acquired the Melbourne-based Insight broker network at the end of 2015. Now he has joined CBN, which Steadfast acquired from IAG last year.
As the authorised representative network’s GM Development, he says he will “help realise the potential that exists at CBN”.
In other moves Leanne Farrell, previously Chubb’s national underwriting manager, has joined Berkley Insurance Australia as Victorian State Manager and Financial Lines Underwriter.
Willis Re Australia has appointed John Philipsz as Deputy CEO, with immediate effect. He previously worked for Willis Towers Watson Securities in London before launching its Sydney office in 2015, and was appointed as its Co-Head of Asia Pacific in 2016.
And Gallagher Bassett has announced the appointment of Brett Burnham to the new role of Client Relationship Manager.
