NSW state insurer icare has announced its continuing support for the industry’s premier claims awards – the Mansfield Awards.

Named after the English Lord Chief Justice who introduced the concept of utmost good faith to the insurance process in 1766, the awards are organised by Insurance News and LMI Group.

icare and Steadfast, which confirmed its sponsorship last week, have backed the awards every year since they were launched in 2017.

“icare has been a terrific supporter of the Mansfield Awards right from the start,” Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan said. “Its managers have told us they place enormous emphasis on high-achieving claims performance.

“Like Steadfast, icare says building greater awareness within the industry of the need for claims excellence is essential to building the trust and support of clients and consumers.”

Award winners are calculated using official reports and surveys conducted by LMI, with the results weighted so all insurers are viewed equally. Companies and individuals are not invited to make submissions for an award.

This year’s presentation, made via a webinar as a result of COVID-19 social distancing measures, will take place on July 23.
