icare sounds out workers' comp providers

NSW state-owned insurer icare is conducting a market study to better understand provider capabilities and experience in workers’ compensation claims and injury management services.

“The market study is separate to the upcoming procurement process for claims and injury management services,” icare says in an item posted on its website today. “The intention is to begin this procurement process in the first quarter of next year.”

The study seeks respondent submissions describing key competencies across service offerings, digital and innovation capabilities, experience in managing claims and related services, and industry outlook and trends.

The insurer says the study is part of a consultation process on a new claims model and follows a survey that sought input from injured workers, businesses, unions, industry groups, providers and the community.

“It's the first time in four years that icare has sought such comprehensive community and industry input into the claims model to improve the way claims are managed in the future with the goal of providing simpler, better care for injured workers and support for businesses,” it says.

Reponses to the Market Study are due by December 6. More information is available here.
