ICA to host further meetings for flood-affected customers
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) will hold in-person forums for flood-affected communities in Brisbane and parts of northern NSW to allow customers to meet with insurers.
ICA says the meetings are a “further opportunity” for customers to discuss their claims. More than 62% of the nearly 236,400 claims related to severe flooding in February and March have been finalised.
Extreme flooding across Queensland and NSW earlier this year has now been recorded as the equal most costly natural disaster in Australian history, exceeding a value of $5.56 billion in losses.
ICA CEO Andrew Hall says similar forums earlier this year gave policyholders the opportunity to “discuss the specific details of their claim”.
“We know many customers attended the consultations held in May and September to meet with ICA representatives and their insurer,” Mr Hall said.
“While insurers are always available by phone or web channels we understand that many people prefer to discuss their claims in-person, so we are ensuring there is another opportunity for this face-to-face interaction to occur.”
Customer meetings will be held from midday to 8pm at the following locations and dates:
• Wednesday November 23, at Moorooka Community Centre, Moorooka
• Thursday November 24, at Sandgate Townhall, Sandgate
• Monday November 28, at Woodburn Memorial Hall, Woodburn
• Tuesday November 29, at Lismore Workers Sports Club, Goonellabah
• Wednesday November 30, at Ballina RSL Club, Ballina
