Howden buys Sydney brokerage portfolio

Global intermediary group Howden has acquired the client portfolio of Collegial Insurance Services.

Howden says the general insurance brokerage, established in 2015 by Russell Farrington, has a client book ranging from listed corporates to SMEs.

“We are very proud to be part of the next chapter in their journey,” Howden Pacific CEO Matt Bacon said. “Russell has had a very successful history in the Sydney insurance market ... We see many future opportunities for Collegial’s clients to access key broking talent and leading insurance solutions.”

Mr Farrington, who previously spent eight years at Gallagher and 16 years at Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers, says Howden is “culturally aligned” with Collegial.

The acquisition also creates opportunities to access insurance solutions worldwide, he says.

In June, Howden announced it had bought Bridges Insurance Services, a New Zealand general insurance broker focused on mid-market businesses and SMEs.
