Gunmen ‘targeted’ CBN rep’s office
Police are still hunting for gunmen who fled in a getaway car after firing shots at the Sydney office of a Community Broker Network authorised representative.
Officers are treating the attack as “targeted”, the NSW Police Force told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
Shots were fired at the office on Haig Avenue in Georges Hall about 1.10am yesterday.
Police were called to the scene and a short time later responded to a car fire in Kawana Street, Bass Hill, about eight minutes’ drive away. The two incidents are believed to be linked.
Police are searching for the gunmen and their driver accomplice.
CCTV footage shows two hooded figures leaving a dark sedan carrying guns. They can then be heard firing at the office door. No one was inside the office.
Separate video of fire engulfing a car in Kawana Street has aired on Nine News.
“Absolutely it would be a targeted attack,” Detective Chief Inspector Darren Sly told local media. “When people get out [of a car and] start firing shots into premises ... certainly for police it’s not something that we want in our community and [is] something that we want to stamp out.
“What happened with the vehicle drop-off around the fire, that will all form part of our investigation, and police will be out knocking on doors and looking for further evidence.”
CBN has declined to comment further after releasing a statement yesterday confirming the attack.
