Melbourne‐based brokerage Professional Insurance Solutions has been acquired by Gallagher, further expanding its footprint in Victoria and 1100‐strong Australian broking workforce.

Led by John Whiteside, the "respected" brokerage has developed a loyal commercial client base, Gallagher says.

Gallagher has announced eight other acquisitions since May last year, including Victorian brokerages Smart Insurance Services, JLS Insurance Consulting and National Insurance Group, and Queensland-based Ausure Coast & Country.

Professional Insurance Solutions will now use the Gallagher brand and offer clients access to Gallagher industry expertise, claims advocacy, placement capabilities and access to global markets. Gallagher offers insurance broking, risk management, premium funding and offshore market placement in Australia and New Zealand.

Local CEO Sarah Lyons says Mr Whiteside – who was formerly IAG National Schemes and Affinity Manager for seven years - and team have a great reputation for client service, are a good fit for Gallagher’s business, and have been warmly welcomed to the fold by new colleagues.
