Gallagher Bassett appoints Australia CEO

Gallagher Bassett has promoted Pete Nicholson to the role of Australia CEO, effective from the end of this month, under a leadership succession plan.

Mr Nicholson, who has more than 20 years financial and operations experience locally and overseas, joined Gallagher Bassett as Australia CFO in 2017. He was later appointed International CFO and has most recently served as local deputy CEO.

Gallagher Bassett says during his tenure he has successfully led the international team and the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategy, enhancing sustainable profitable growth for the company

“Pete is a well-recognised, global leader, who has successfully positioned GB Australia for planned growth and expansion,” International Executive Vice President Jon Winsbury said. “While leading the international M&A strategy, he has been a driving force behind many new businesses that have joined GB.”

Mr Nicholson is taking over as CEO from industry veteran John McNamara, who will serve as Director, Strategic Partnerships until his planned retirement next year.

“We are thankful for John’s leadership and his many accomplishments during his 17-plus years with GB Australia,” Mr Winsbury said.

“John’s foresight to transform and modernise the business through investments in proprietary technology, partnerships and new solutions have resulted in the GB we know today.”
