Funeral for LMI litigation specialist set for tomorrow

A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon (Sept 16) for LMI Legal Director Peter O’Brien, who died suddenly in Sydney at the age of 57.

The 1.55pm service at Ann Wilson Funerals in Mona Vale, a suburb in Sydney, will be streamed live for his friends, colleagues and relatives who are unable to attend because of COVID restrictions.

LMI Founder and Executive Chairman Allan Manning has led the tributes for Mr O’Brien, whom he described as a mentor and unselfish adviser with a fantastic sense of humour.

“Most of us will know him as a dear friend… and a man without a mean bone in his body,” Professor Manning said. “[He was] more like a brother to many of us, me included, while to the many team members he mentored he was a father figure despite his relatively young age.”

Mr O’Brien was an experienced insurance litigation lawyer at Wotton+Kearney Lawyers before joining LMI Group’s Sydney office in 2009.

He died on Father’s Day, on September 6 this year, after celebrating the occasion with his wife Debbie and two sons. He had earlier complained of an extreme headache that has since been linked to an aneurysm, according to LMI.
