Former Chubb chief takes on broker-facing role

John French has been appointed Chubb’s Head of Global Brokers, Australia & New Zealand, the insurer announced today.

At the end of 2017 Mr French left his position as Country President of Australia and New Zealand to take on the regional role of Senior VP Head of Broker Distribution for Asia Pacific. He was succeeded by Jarrod Hill.

Now he has returned to the Australian business to work closely with Mr Hill.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of John’s experience, leadership skills and market reputation in this critical role for Australia and New Zealand,” Mr Hill said.

Current Head of Global Brokers Perry O’Leary will work with Mr French on a handover before retiring next year.

Chubb says it has dedicated global broker distribution teams in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Auckland, and Mr French will set strategic direction for the segment, working closely with the Major Account Division.

He will report to Jason Hawksworth, Head of Distribution, Australia and New Zealand.

Chubb also announced today the appointment of Ross McCallum as Head of Independent Brokers, Australia & New Zealand.

Mr McCallum, who has 20 years’ industry experience, joined Chubb in June last year as Steadfast Key Account Manager. He will also report to Mr Hawksworth.
