QBE and Hollard are next to appear at the parliamentary inquiry into insurers’ responses to the 2022 floods, as an initial four-week program of hearings wraps up.

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics is due to hear from QBE at 10am on Wednesday next week, while Hollard is scheduled for 11.45am. The companies have already lodged submissions to the inquiry.

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority will appear in the afternoon, a program released on the inquiry website today confirms. 

Committee members are expected to question the General Insurance Code Governance Committee and reinsurers on Friday next week, with details to be confirmed.

Terms of reference for the inquiry focus on responses to the record-breaking Queensland and northern NSW floods in February and March two years ago, and later flooding that affected parts of NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.

The Insurance Council of Australia, Suncorp, IAG, RACQ, Youi and Allianz have already appeared before the parliamentary committee, which has also heard from regulators, consumer groups and financial counsellors. The committee is required to report by September 30.
