Experienced public servant to head statutory insurance regulator

The NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority has appointed career public servant Mandy Young as CEO, effective from June 10.

Petrina Casey, who has been acting CEO since Adam Dent resigned last month, will continue to oversee the regulator until Ms Young starts.

Ms Young is currently COO at the NSW Department of Customer Service.

“Mandy has more than 20 years’ experience in executive leadership roles within the NSW public sector,” SIRA chair Trevor Matthews said.

“She understands the work SIRA continues to do to ensure NSW insurance schemes protect and support people who need them the most.”

The regulator oversees the state’s three statutory insurance schemes: motor compulsory third party, workers’ compensation and the home building compensation scheme.

It also has some regulatory functions in insurance schemes including the Lifetime Care and Support and Dust Diseases programs.
