BMS hires Aon trio to launch local energy division

Broker BMS Group has appointed three experts from Aon to create a new energy division in Australia.

Richard Nunny, Ben Humphries and Serai Armstrong will join the specialist broker in August, reporting to BMS Australia CEO Andrew Godden.

“I am incredibly proud that people of this calibre chose to join BMS to deliver outstanding results, in a challenging trading environment, across the energy sector,” Sydney-based Mr Godden said.

Mr Nunny, also in Sydney, has spent a decade as Aon’s National Power and Energy Practice Leader and formerly worked at Jardine Lloyd Thompson in London and Australia.

Brisbane-based Mr Humphries is client manager of power, energy and renewables at Aon in Brisbane and formerly spent a decade at Willis Tower Watson in Brisbane, Melbourne and London, and held early roles at Suncorp and Allianz.

He specialises in power and renewable energy fields spanning both construction and operational phases.

“I have significant experience in reviewing a broad range of contracts from an indemnity and insurance perspective, and drafting insurance program structures and policy wordings so as to maintain continuous compliance with the requirements of such agreements,” the LinkedIn page of Mr Humphries says.

Ms Armstrong has been an executive at Aon in Brisbane for three years, advising in power, energy and technology, and previously spent five years at NTI.

“We are determined to attract the best talent to BMS to ensure we continue to build out a client offering that combines first class local service and advocacy supported by global reach and capabilities,” Mr Godden said.

In June, BMS announced it had appointed Sandra Lee, head of Aon’s transaction liability team, to head its operations in Asia.
