Battleface launches travel insurer platform in Australia

Battleface has launched its platform in Australia which it says provides flexible travel insurance and “turns the archaic model of one-size-fits-all on its head” as its partners build their own tailored products.

Ohio-based Battleface has so far partnered locally with Wise & Silent, AWAI Travel and Mustard Underwriting.

"By partnering with compatible brands across Australia we’re able to offer customers access to products based on their actual travel needs and itineraries,” Sydney-based Battleface MD Australia and New Zealand Matt McLellan said.

“When travel insurance is unbundled into individual benefits, partners can build their own products on top of APIs,” said Mr McLellan, who was formerly Chubb Head of Travel ANZ.

Partners can build their own products using Battleface’s platform with predetermined rates and benefits, giving customers flexibility. Customisable plan options, variable excess levels and bespoke benefit limits are available.

Standard cover from Battleface includes protection against trip cancellation up to $40,000 per person and a personal liability insurance of $2.5 million, plus unlimited medical. Customers also have access to 24/7 emergency medical, travel, claims and customer service teams.

“Custom built embedded products, relevant benefits and responsive customer service from any device, any time, any place - welcome to a better insurance experience,” Battleface says.

AWAI Travel specialises in leisure travel and has partnered with Battleface to provide pre-trip cancellation insurance as standard with every purchase. Wise & Silent built its own products on top of Battleface’s API, while Mustard Underwriting, which specialises in providing insurance products to the sharing economy, has also partnered with Battleface.
