Axa XL has appointed Stephen Nguyen as Head of Distribution for Australia, while Shaun Higgerson has taken up the role of Client and Distribution Leader.

Mr Nguyen was previously Axa XL Client and Distribution Leader, Asia, based in Hong Kong. Before joining the company, he held roles in both broking and risk management in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Stephen has a wealth of experience in both the Australia and Asia markets, and along with Shaun’s local expertise and underwriting background, these appointments strengthen our team and will help deepen our relationships and approach with brokers and clients,” Australia Country Manager Catherine Carlyon said.

Mr Higgerson moves across to the distribution position from an Accident and Health underwriting role.

The insurer says the team continues to work closely with Axa XL’s Brooklyn branded distribution capabilities. Tim Fairbrother is Head of Brooklyn and Jessica Jenkins is Brooklyn Relationship Manager.

Mr Nguyen’s appointment was effective April 1.
