Australasia Underwriting recruits first casualty chief

Australasia Underwriting has hired Steve Ross as head of casualty, which is a new role at the businesses.

Mr Ross, who is based in Melbourne, joined this month after leaving Agile Underwriting Services, where he was underwriting manager for the southern region. Before that, he was Chubb’s senior casualty underwriter for more than three years until February 2020, according to his LinkedIn.

“He has a proven track record for profitable growth, driving product development and building high-performing teams,” Australasia Underwriting MD Alan Mackay said.

“Harnessing expert underwriting, and giving our brokers immediate access to that, is a fundamental component of our proposition. It’s what makes us different. Steve shares that ethos, and we look forward to his contribution to the leadership team.”

Mr Ross says he aims to “enhance and develop our product proposition and capacity management to enable our underwriters to provide sustainable, profitable and innovative coverages for our broking partners. I urge brokers not yet trading with us to get in touch.”
