Austbrokers Corporate CEO resigns as trio set to join Marsh

Austbrokers Corporate CEO John Mutton has resigned, as he and two other executives prepare to join rival broker Marsh.

Mr Mutton was appointed CEO in May last year when InterRISK’s corporate business was rebranded to become Austbrokers Corporate. He had led InterRISK on an interim basis since the departure of former MD Phil Kearns in November 2019.

AUB Group CEO Mike Emmett confirmed Mr Mutton’s resignation, along with that of GM Corporate and Specialty Nick Hodges and GM Financial Lines and Private Equity Steve Pickett.

All three are believed to be joining Marsh, but the international brokerage had not confirmed their roles at the time of publication.

AUB’s Chief Broking Officer Ben Bessell will lead Austbrokers Corporate on an interim basis while an internal and external recruitment process is carried out.

“[The departures] are disappointing but not a crisis,” Mr Emmett told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“John has built a strong team and I remain confident and pleased about the progress of the business.”
