Aon carries out ‘targeted redundancies’, former local chief departs

Broking giant Aon is restructuring parts of its workforce as it aims to serve Australian clients better through its local operations.

insuranceNEWS.com.au understands a note was sent to all Commercial Risk Solutions staff earlier this month outlining the rationale behind the changes.

Aon declined to comment, but a source described the changes as “targeted, structural redundancies aimed at serving clients better”.

“The numbers are not huge. We are not talking mass redundancies,” the source said.

insuranceNEWS.com.au understands that National Practice Leader Construction Alister Burley and Head of Technical Lesley-Anne Butler are among those departing the business. Both declined to comment.

Separately, former local CEO James Baum is understood to have left his UK-based position as Global Head Wholesale & Specialty Broking. Mr Baum led the local operations from 2018 to 2021. Aon declined to confirm the departure or the reasons behind it.
