ANZIIF Australian insurance awards set for 'in person' return

This year’s Australian Insurance Industry Awards will be held with guests in physical attendance for the first time since 2019, following covid disruptions last year and 2020, the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) announced today.

ANZIIF says the event is set for August 25 at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.

Last year the awards ceremony was held through an “online movie” format and in 2020 the event was cancelled because of the pandemic.

“[This year] marks the 18th year of the awards, and this year our esteemed panel of judges will be looking to see how our industry has continued to support the customer, community, and its people, and the extraordinary achievements that have helped our industry grow and flourish,” ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford said.

“We are overjoyed to see the return of the industry’s night of nights, and boy, are we looking forward to seeing you in person and celebrating our industry.”

ANZIIF says two new award categories have been added to the program: Excellence in Environmental, Social and Governance Change, and General Insurance Claims Team of the Year.

Excellence in Environmental, Social and Governance Change recognises an organisation’s management of environmental, social, and governance issues on its strategies and practice.

General Insurance Claims Team celebrates a claims team that has demonstrated excellent technical skills, strong claims results and outstanding customer service last year.

Submissions for the 17 award categories including for large broking company, large general insurance company and underwriting agency of the year close on May 9.

Hollard won in the Large General Insurance Company category last year, Marsh in the Large Broking Company section and CHU Underwriting Agencies triumphed as Underwriting Agency of the Year.
