Jason Hawksworth has been appointed GM Distribution at Allianz Commercial, marking his return to the insurer after he departed for Chubb in 2014.

In February, Sydney-based Mr Hawksworth resigned from his role as Head of Distribution at Chubb, where he spent seven years. That followed a stint of 13 years at Allianz in both the UK and Australia across Distribution Manager, NSW State Manager and Hunter Premium Funding roles.

“I’m very much looking forward to returning to Allianz and ensuring our broker focus and market management is once again market leading,” Mr Hawksworth said.

In October, Phuong Ly took the helm as Chief GM at the Commercial division, which was introduced at the start of last year under a new operating model focused on three key customer segments: Commercial, Consumer and Workers' Compensation.

Commercial focuses on small to medium enterprises, mid-corp markets and specialist areas such as underwriting agencies and Hunter Premium Funding.

“Jason is an accomplished insurance professional with nearly 30 years’ experience in the industry across a range of underwriting, sales and distribution roles,” Allianz said. “He brings with him strong relationships and a track record of developing value propositions to grow broker portfolios.”

Sydney-based Mr Ly was formerly Chief Underwriting Officer at QBE and has held executive leadership roles at CGU and IAG, where he was EGM Business Distribution and EM Broker & Agency.
