AIG appoints New Zealand GM
Liam Pomfret has been promoted to the role of AIG New Zealand GM.
Mr Pomfret has been at AIG six years, most recently as Asia Pacific Head of Professional Indemnity & Cyber Insurance.
In his new role he will be responsible for profitable growth, achieving financial and operational targets, distribution and managing local regulatory relationships.
“Liam is highly regarded in the New Zealand marketplace, bringing extensive knowledge and experience in financial lines, well-established broker relationships and a strong skillset in stakeholder management,” AIG Australia CEO and Head of Pacific Grant Cairns said.
Prior to joining AIG, Mr Pomfret spent six years at Aon as Associate Director, and held senior roles in New Zealand and the UK at Marsh. AIG Asia Pacific Regional President Chris Colahan says he is excited to be working with Mr Pomfret and Mr Cairns to “bring the best of AIG to brokers and clients in New Zealand.”
“We are very fortunate to have you leading our efforts in New Zealand,” he said.
Mr Cairns, who is based in Melbourne, began his current role in November after 20 years at Chubb following the departure of Nigel Fitzgerald at the end of March to join Steadfast as COO.
He reports to Mr Colahan, who replaced Singapore-based veteran Steven Barnett in April and is also based in Melbourne.
Former AIG NZ CEO Toni Ferrier has joined Marsh McLennan as New Zealand CEO and President.
