Zurich to provide capacity for EBM RentCover

Zurich will underwrite EBM’s RentCover landlord insurance products from December under a new agency agreement.

RentCover started in 1991 and created one of Australia’s first landlord policies. The business works with landlords and property professionals to cover about 165,000 customers, offering insurance for long and short-term rentals.

“We look forward to working with Zurich to shape a future in which our businesses, our clients and our people thrive,” RentCover MD Sharon Fox-Slater said today.

Existing RentCover policyholders will have their policy underwritten by Zurich at renewal, with new customers covered by the insurer from December 1. RentCover will continue to distribute its own products and handle claims.

The new arrangement follows a 30-year relationship between EBM RentCover and underwriter QBE, and Ms Fox-Slater says the longevity of the association speaks volumes for both organisations.

“We are happy with what we have achieved with QBE by our side, and now is the right time to move into the next exciting phase of our business growth with Zurich,” she said.

This agreement with Zurich on the landlord products expands upon an existing relationship with EBM, which has seen it provide capacity for EBM's CoverLink portfolio since 2022.

“RentCover is a highly professional team and has a deep affinity with the residential property market,” Zurich Australia and New Zealand Head of General Insurance Alex Morgan said. “We share a commitment to providing customers with market leading protection and best in class service.”
