Zurich program to overcome talent shortage
Zurich Financial Services Australia has launched a cadet program to help source and develop the next generation of industry workers.
CEO David Smith says the shortage of new talent in the financial services industry is becoming a major concern, and the four to six-year cadet program will give financial assistance to school leavers to study in a relevant field while doing either full or part-time work experience with Zurich.
The company has already picked 11 final-year Sydney high school students to join the cadetship program next year. They’ll work in Zurich’s investment, life risk and general insurance divisions.
Mr Smith says the program aims to offer talented young people a long-term career path with the organisation.
“There is a severe shortage of new talent entering the financial services industry,” he said. “This will continue to diminish as the baby boomers retire, leaving huge gaps in knowledge and experience.”
