Zurich launches first reconciliation action plan

Zurich Australia has unveiled its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), outlining the activities it will carry out over the next 12 months to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The plan represents the culmination of many months of work with Reconciliation Australia and the insurer’s community partners.

Zurich says RAP is an important step in its journey towards driving positive, progressive actions to celebrate, connect and collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their unique contributions to the communities Zurich serve in Australia.

“Our inaugural reconciliation action plan is a fantastic example in action of our global commitments towards gender, generational and cultural diversity,” Life and Investments Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Linda Griffin said.

She says a working group will track the plan over the next year “so that Zurich may go beyond achieving reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and work in tandem with their communities to develop respectful relationships and create meaningful opportunities”.

Over the next 12 months Zurich intends to deepen its connections with existing community partners as well as work with more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses.

Zurich announced today the launch of the plan in recognition of National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee Week celebrations, which concluded yesterday.
