Zurich brings NZ operation under one roof
Zurich General Insurance CEO Shane Doyle says his company’s role as a major global insurer gives it an important point of differentiation in the New Zealand market.
Speaking at the opening of the company’s new office building in central Auckland last week, he said the market’s present difficulties centre around the impact of the Christchurch earthquakes but “doesn’t prevent New Zealand being a good place for a capable insurance company to do business”.
Addressing a large group of brokers and Auckland staff, Mr Doyle said the company’s investment in the new harbourside building is evidence of Zurich’s determination to gain a strong share of the New Zealand commercial market. “We are absolutely committed to this market.”
The new building brings all departments in the NZ operation under one roof after several years working in three separate locations around the city. Associated Marine staff have also moved into the building and are operating under the Zurich brand.
Mr Doyle challenged leading brokers who attended the opening to reciprocate Zurich’s commitment to the New Zealand market. “When you come right down to it, the amount and quality of the business we write is the factor we always rely on to determine our success.”
