Zurich has announced the appointment of former KPMG partner David Whittle as Chief Actuary of its Australian and New Zealand businesses.

Mr Whittle joined KPMG Actuaries in 2006, and has more than 20 years’ experience in the general insurance industry.

“This is a key position for Zurich’s business in Australia and New Zealand and we are very pleased to have someone of David’s calibre, background and experience,” Zurich General Insurance CEO Shane Doyle said.

At KPMG, Mr Whittle held the statutory position of reviewing actuary for a top four Australian general insurer and six smaller insurers.

Prior to KPMG he was GM Product Management and Research at Allianz Australia.
