Youi to build $100 million global HQ on Sunshine Coast
Seven years after establishing its Australian business on the Sunshine Coast, Youi has announced plans to open its “global headquarters” in Queensland.
The South African-owned group will build an office complex in Sippy Downs, next to the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Youi estimates the project will cost $80-$100 million.
The first stage of the development is scheduled for completion in 2017, with the remainder to be built over 10 years.
Youi had 30 employees when it started in 2008. When the new “campus” is finished it will have capacity for 2000 staff, more than double its current number.
Group CEO Howard Aron says the fast-growing Sunshine Coast corridor offers “abundant opportunities to source the right talent”.
He says Youi has relocated several times as it has grown, most recently to Birtinya near Lake Kawana.
The new complex will include 1800 parking spaces for call-centre staff, ensuring nearby residents are not inconvenienced by congestion, which has been an issue in the past.
The office will service Youi’s Australian and New Zealand businesses. “Our investment shows our unwavering commitment to the region and to our staff – we’re here to stay,” Mr Aron said.
