Reinsurance broker Willis Re has named John Philipsz its new local CEO, as his predecessor takes on a broader role.

Former Australia CEO Cameron Green has been appointed head of Willis Re’s international casualty reinsurance practice, as well as Chairman of the Australian business.

Mr Philipsz, who was deputy CEO, takes over as Australia CEO. The appointments took effect on January 1, and Mr Green and Mr Philipsz remain Sydney-based.

Asia Pacific MD Mark Morley says Mr Green, who had held the CEO role since 2013, “will continue to support Willis Re’s strategic development in Australia and New Zealand, playing a key advocacy role for a number of clients throughout these markets”.

Mr Philpsz joined the Australia team in 2018 from Willis Towers Watson Securities.
