Wilkins joins PM in Indonesia
IAG CEO Mike Wilkins joined a delegation accompanying Tony Abbott on his first visit to Indonesia as Prime Minister.
He was among a group of 21 business leaders who attended functions with Indonesian parliamentarians and government members last week.
“Mr Wilkins was very pleased to be invited as part of the Prime Minister’s official delegation to Indonesia,” an IAG spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“IAG has a presence in five of its six targeted markets in Asia – Thailand, Malaysia, India, China and Vietnam. The group continues to actively work on market entry opportunities in its remaining target market of Indonesia.”
The insurer has about $820 million invested in Asia. It wants the region to contribute 10% of its business by 2016.
“We have long said the strong demographic fundamentals and an increasing proportion of middle and higher-income households makes Indonesia an attractive proposition,” the spokesman said.
Other members of the delegation included ANZ CEO Mike Smith, CBA CEO Ian Narev, Telstra Chairman Catherine Livingstone, Newcrest Mining CEO Greg Robinson, BlueScope CEO Paul O’Malley, Orica CEO Ian Smith and Elders CEO Malcolm Jackman.
