Wesfarmers’ NZ shopping spree continues
With the ink barely dry on its Crombie Lockwood acquisition, Wesfarmers is adding more businesses to its broking interests in New Zealand.
The WA-based conglomerate has announced a takeover of Law Mooney Williamson Insurance Brokers (LMW), another of NZ’s largest independent providers.
Insurance Division MD Bob Buckley says the transaction was conducted through Crombie Lockwood, which had been negotiating with LMW before the Wesfarmers deal was signed.
“The (LMW) acquisition comes just a week after completion of the acquisition of Crombie Lockwood in New Zealand. (This) demonstrates the commitment of Wesfarmers to support the growth of its insurance activities in Australasia.”
Crombie Lockwood CEO Steve Lockwood says LMW will be an important part of the Wesfarmers NZ broking network.
He says the company is highly respected and has a substantial market presence, particularly in the Waikato region on the North Island.
