Weaver to leave WTW after almost a decade

WTW head of Asia-Pacific Simon Weaver will leave the company, the international brokerage has confirmed.

Mr Weaver, based in Sydney, took up the regional role in January last year, and James Baum joined in July this year to succeed him as head of Australia and New Zealand. Mr Baum’s role has since been changed to head of Pacific.

“We confirm that Simon Weaver will be leaving WTW and we wish Simon all the best in his future endeavours,” a company spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au today.

“We are confident in the future of our businesses across Asia and the Pacific, and their ability to serve the people, risk and capital needs of our clients. These are important markets for WTW globally and we’ll continue to reinforce and strengthen this position.”

The spokesperson declined to comment on whether WTW would recruit into Mr Weaver’s position.

“The corporate risk and broking (CRB) business in Asia will continue to be headed by Luke Ware ... and the CRB Pacific business will be headed by James Baum,” they added.

Mr Weaver started with WTW in January 2016, based in Asia, before taking on the Australia and New Zealand leadership role in December 2018.

Before that he worked with Willis, Miller and JLT, all in Singapore. He started his broking career in London.
