Wallabies star to run Centric Wealth

Centric Wealth has appointed former Wallabies captain Phil Kearns as its new CEO.

Mr Kearns played for the Wallabies for 10 years from 1989 and captained the team on 10 occasions. He has been a senior executive at Investec Bank and holds an economics degree from the University of NSW.

Centric Chairman David Shein says the board evaluated a number of outstanding candidates for the role and ultimately decided Mr Kearns was best suited to lead the company.

“At Investec, he was instrumental in building the private bank’s client base and in introducing investors to innovative investment products, including aircraft and wind farm investment funds,” Mr Shein said.

“He has [also] been responsible for leading significant corporate transactions in wealth advisory and other industries.

Centric has also given CFO Chris Powell the additional role of COO. He was formerly the Regional CFO of Zurich Financial Services Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Powell joined Centric Wealth in July this year.
