‘Turbulent times’ push Calliden out of builder market
Calliden is to adjust its exposure to the construction industry by quitting the licensed builder insurance market at the end of the year.
The company says “turbulent times” in the building and construction industry are affecting the sector’s claims outlook.
However, it will continue to cover owner-builder construction and related personal accidents and will stay in the Victoria, NSW, WA and SA builders’ warranty insurance markets for licensed builders and owner-builders.
Group Executive, Customers Mike Hooton told insuranceNEWS.com.au the move is consistent with Calliden’s overall approach of focusing on larger market segments.
“We did not feel we had enough scale in the construction sector,” he said.
