Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s Australian-made subsidiary Trowbridge Consulting has expanded its operations into Spain and South Africa and now covers 16 countries across the globe.

John Trowbridge, the Chairman of Trowbridge Consulting and global leader of the B&W Deloitte actuarial insurance practice, said the company’s recent expansion includes becoming the number one life and health actuary in South Africa.

“Insurance and financial markets are undergoing significant change caused by regulatory pressures, global competitive forces and industry restructuring,” he said. “The recent increase in awareness of business risk in the financial sector, and how to manage capital and shareholder value, requires increased actuarial and industry specialist skills.”

Mr Trowbridge said the strength of Deloitte’s global network would enhance its operations in Australia through being able to deal with the aftermath of September 11 and HIH, the public liability debate and medical indemnity issues.
