TIO sacks 20 as part of ‘restructure’

NT Government-owned insurer TIO is sacking 20 people and closing two branches to deal with economic challenges.

CEO Richard Harding says the changes are part of a restructuring of the company which he says will create a sustainable business that serves Territorians’ needs.

“Although we have been able to minimise the number of people affected through retraining and redeployment, the reality is that 20 people will not be able to be placed elsewhere in the organisation,” he said in a statement.

Mr Harding says the closures of the Casuarina and Coolalinga branches near Darwin will be balanced with improvements in customer access through online, telephone and mobile lending channels.

TIO representatives declined to comment when approached by insuranceNEWS.com.au.
