Take cover: Huddle unveils 'army of bots'
Insurance disruptor Huddle says it has built “an army of bots” to automate tasks like reviewing claims, making payments and helping customers with sign-up.
Huddle co-founder and CEO Jason Wilby says bots make fewer mistakes and cost less than humans, which makes for cheaper and more reliable cover.
“There’s plenty of us humans here at Huddle,” he said. “But humans have limitations. They can’t work 24/7 and they can’t make millions of decisions simultaneously.”
Huddle, which is backed by Hollard, began using claims bots in 2017. Since raising $19.25 million last year, it says it has “doubled down on AI technology”.
Meanwhile, Huddle has also launched home cover, in addition to car, travel and contents offerings already in place.
The home cover has two levels – basic and comprehensive – and will be available in every state, although not in highly-exposed areas of northern Australia at this stage.
“Our goal is to offer cover to as many people as possible,” Mr Wilby told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
He says Huddle has grown rapidly since launch. “We have quadrupled in size in the past 12 months and we expect to do so again in the next 12 months.”
