Swiss Re to seek court approval for local change

Swiss Re will seek Federal Court approval next month for local changes that are part of moves to align its legal structure in Asia with those in North America and Europe.

The court application is to transfer the insurance business of the Australian Branch of Swiss Reinsurance Company to the Australian Branch of Swiss Re Asia.

The company says there will be no change to the day-to-day operations, personnel or the way business is conducted.

Scheme documents have been published on the Swiss Re Australia website and the Federal Court hearing will be held in Sydney on October 24.

In 2017 the company said it would establish Singapore-based Swiss Re Asia as the regional headquarters for its reinsurance operations, providing a more effective platform from which to grow the business.
