Sure outlines mitigation premium discounts
Queensland focused Sure Insurance has outlined premium discounts of up to 30% to recognise household resilience measures as the high-risk cyclone season approaches.
Sure MD Bradley Heath says customers undertaking resilience measures will gain access to discounts as well as benefitting from enhanced structural safety that could potentially add significant value to their homes.
“We understand these measures come at a price, and we take into account under our Built for North Queensland program any work done on the home to protect against flood damage or cyclonic winds, and adjust the premium accordingly,” he said.
The discount program includes a 30% saving for complete roof replacements that meet compliance, cyclone shutters on all windows would provide a 10% saving, while a number of other measures would deliver a 5% discount.
In the case of floods, permanent barriers installed would provide a 20% benefit and flood resistant doors and windows a 10% saving.
Installation of a bushfire sprinkler system would deliver a 30% discount and gutter guards a 5% saving.
“We believe one of the ways to make insurance more affordable for north and far north Queenslanders is to reduce the amount of potential damage to homes through household mitigation measures,” Mr Heath said.
