Suncorp video reaches out to cyclone-prone Queenslanders
Suncorp has produced a video highlighting the value of mitigation measures, as part of its Protecting the North program, introduced in April last year.
Australian motorsport star Craig Lowndes fronts the 60-second clip, addressing north Queenslanders who face the risk of cyclones damaging their properties.
“Prevention is always better than cure, and mitigation is better than rebuilding,” Suncorp Insurance spokesman Joshua Cooney said.
“This is why we’ve teamed up with Craig as part of our Protecting the North initiative, to help get the message out about the importance of taking steps to protect your home well before storm season is upon us.”
Mr Lowndes says his racing experience has taught him the value of pre-emptive safety measures.
“I have found myself in many dangerous situations throughout my career,” Mr Lowndes said.
“In many ways, it’s a similar story for the hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders who live in cyclone-prone areas, particularly those in north Queensland.
“You never know when a cyclone may hit, but you can be prepared when it does. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that it pays to have the proper protection in place.”
Suncorp’s Protecting the North package includes documenting and reporting mitigation work undertaken by homeowners, which could bring premium reductions of up to 20%.
