Suncorp unveils new reconciliation plan
Suncorp has published a new Reconciliation Action Plan detailing initiatives to support First Nations people and increase economic equity.
It is the insurer’s third RAP, and the company invited all employees to its launch featuring a panel discussion on the importance of reconciliation, achievements to date and commitments made to 2026.
“We’re looking forward to building on and strengthening the connections and relationships we’ve forged,” EGM customer service Stuart Beaumont said.
“There are plenty more opportunities ahead of us to bring tangible benefits to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We’re excited to bring this to life with the renewed focus of this plan.”
The commitments include “promote reconciliation through our sphere of influence” and “improve access to suitable insurance products and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples”.
CEO Steve Johnston says the insurer has made good progress since its first RAP in 2018 but has more work to do to make meaningful change.
“Together with the board and leadership team, I look forward to the opportunities to strengthen and develop our connections to deliver our RAP commitments and make a positive difference,” he said. “Through our actions and networks we strive to positively impact race relations, equality and equity.”
