Suncorp stadiums given orange hue in SES tribute
Suncorp-sponsored stadiums in Melbourne and Brisbane were floodlit in orange and the colour was the theme of the day in offices last Wednesday as part of an annual tribute to the contribution of State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers.
Wear Orange Wednesday, or WOW Day, is a national SES initiative that recognises the work of the volunteers across the country who help communities during flood and storm emergencies.
Last week Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium flipped the switch to orange while Melbourne’s AAMI Park and Rod Laver Arena were also illuminated.
Suncorp says AAMI has supported the Victorian SES for 18 years and the company last year announced a partnership with Queensland SES.
The group’s staff participated in the day with a company-wide competition, decorating offices, work-from home statations and even pets in orange to mark the occasion.
“As one of Australia’s largest insurers, Suncorp Group knows how important it is for households and communities to be prepared, as the immediate and long-lasting effects of natural disasters on individuals, families and communities can be devastating,” Head of Disaster Response and Events Claims Cath Stewart said.
