Suncorp makes claims team changes

Suncorp has made key changes to its claim operations following the restructuring of the insurance business into two divisions, as it continues to finalise arrangements under the new model.

The insurer has confirmed key appointments reporting to Paul Smeaton, who in July became

COO insurance with responsibility for claims management and operations and some group functions including real estate management and procurement.

Anna Cartwright has been named EGM Motor Claims, responsible for the end-to-end claims experience, while Alli Smith becomes EGM Home Claims with a remit that also includes a dedicated disaster response team, a spokeswoman told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

Luke Whenman has been appointed Head of Commercial Property & Specialty Claims and will work closely with EGM Commercial Darren O’Connell in Ms Harrison’s team.

Michael Miller has been named EGM Personal Injury Claims, responsible for portfolios including workers’ compensation and compulsory third party.

Suncorp declined to confirm other staff changes or final numbers in the division, with the restructuring also leading to some departures.

National Manager Technical Commercial Property & Specialty Claims Mohinder Kumar has advised he has left the group after 18 years, and following some 42 years in the insurance industry.

Technical specialist Nickolas Horton has also posted on LinkedIn that he is looking for new opportunities following more than 20 years with the insurer.

Under its new model, has Suncorp also established an Insurance Product and Portfolio division, which is led by Lisa Harrison.
