Suncorp Group is assessing the benefits of outsourcing up to 40 technology jobs.

A spokesman says the insurer is in the “early stages” of reviewing options for telephony, networks and IT facilities.

“Should any staff roles be affected… redeployment and transfer to any new provider would be the priority,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “Staff are always consulted throughout the process of any change.”

Reports suggest Suncorp has already held discussions with vendors including Telstra and Optus.

The spokesman says Suncorp has not “advised who we’re talking to”, but using the expertise of specialist companies “is something we’ve always done and will continue to do”.

“It allows us to focus on our core financial services offering and invest in developing our people, improving customer service and delivering industry-leading products.”
