Veteran broker Peter Blanco has been appointed as MD of Adelaide-based Brecknock Insurance Brokers.

Mr Blanco, a founder and director of well-known SA brokerage De Conno & Blanco, will start his new role on May 8.

Current Brecknock MD Daniel Hubbard will become Chairman, while director Matt Cochrane and Senior Account Executive Frank Iadarola have left the business.

Mr Blanco’s wife Heather will join Brecknock from Guardian Insurance Brokers as Head of Corporate, and Sales Manager Joshua McDonald becomes Head of Commercial.

Mr Blanco told insuranceNEWS.com.au it is “gut-wrenching” to leave the business he started in 1978 with Tony De Conno, but he is relishing the prospect of a new challenge.

“We have sold out to our sons, and it’s time for them to stand on their own two feet,” he said. “This was a great opportunity at this point in my career.”

Brecknock and De Conno & Blanco are both Steadfast members.
