SLE Holdings appoints new chair

Underwriting agency SLE Holdings has appointed Philip Purcell as Chairman, replacing Simon Rice who is stepping down after six years in the role.

Mr Purcell is a seasoned lawyer, specialising in insurance, and possesses in-depth knowledge of the Australian and London insurance markets, SLE says in a brief LinkedIn post announcing his appointment.

SLE says he has also served as a main board director for Steadfast Group, during which time there was a significant growth in the underwriting space of that group.

“We warmly welcome [him] to SLE Holdings and are confident that his expertise and leadership will contribute to our continued success with our five-year strategy,” SLE says.

SLE, owned by global specialty re/insurer Chaucer Group since 2017, underwrites multiple classes of business while designing unique schemes and programs across its two brands, SLE Worldwide and Pacific Underwriting.
