Sedgwick rubber-stamps CEO switch

US-based claims manager Sedgwick has confirmed the appointment of Cunningham Lindsey Australia CEO Diego Ascani.

As reported by insuranceNEWS.com.au last week, He replaces Asia-Pacific CEO Damon Bennett.

Sedgwick acquired Cunningham Lindsey late last year, with the loss adjuster’s well-known brand to disappear by the end of this year.

In late June Sedgwick said Mr Bennett would remain as Asia-Pacific CEO following the merger, with responsibility for Australia, New Zealand and nine Asian countries. It said Mr Ascani would continue as COO.

But just six weeks later Mr Bennett was heading for the exit, as Sedgwick looks to bring in a new management structure with separate leaders for Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Mr Ascani, who joined Cunningham Lindsey last year, takes the Australia role, while Darryl Cowan is New Zealand CEO and Wayne Cheng GM Asia. All three will report to CEO of International Operations Ian Muress.

Sedgwick says Mr Ascani, who is a former MD of Xchanging Australia, has more than 27 years’ experience in the insurance industry.

It says Mr Bennett “recently made the decision to leave the company for an extended break before pursuing other opportunities”.

Mr Muress said: “The Asia-Pacific leadership team is working together to bring the best of Sedgwick to our clients. Damon was dedicated to building our business for 15 years, and we are grateful to be well positioned for long-term success in the region thanks to his efforts.

“In recent months, Diego has played a central role in the Australian management team, bringing his operational skills and third-party administration experience to overseeing the integration of Cunningham Lindsey and Sedgwick.”
